For JOOL, our vision and solution begins with a cohesive connection of breakthrough science, advanced technology, big data, and design. Innovating at the intersection of these four critical domains propels us beyond old standard models of positive behavior change to the next generation of dynamically-generated guides, ready to help people achieve their goals and live their purpose.
To fulfill this evolutionary vision, JOOL has developed a powerful solution that, for individuals, inspires greater personal accountability for improved behavioral well-being and life fulfillment. For organizations, JOOL offers unparalleled analytics and insights for improved culture and performance, as well as a communication conduit to better engage populations in a more personal, meaningful manner.
This Is The Application – Written and performed by poet Sekou Andrews
JOOL is built on a foundation of over two decades of learning and positive outcomes by combining the science of behavior change with expert, tailored communication systems. From what started in a research lab at the University of Michigan, Vic Strecher PhD, MPH has built a pioneering reputation as a leader and visionary within the healthcare field. The commercial success of his first company, HealthMedia (acquired by Johnson & Johnson, Inc. in 2008), served as launch pad for further innovation by creating a new paradigm of well-being and what it means to truly engage someone in a more meaningful journey of life and health.
JOOL Health has deep roots with the University of Michigan and a host of researchers and facilities across the academic spectrum. Founder Vic Strecher has published over 100 articles and led, or participated in, a host of research studies with a recent focus on the profound connection between purpose and health.
JOOL Health is a manifestation of Vic Strecher’s personal purpose:

For over two decades Vic Strecher (PhD, MPH) has been a leader and visionary in the fields of health and well-being, creating new solutions that operate at the intersection of the science of behavior change and advanced technology. A noted researcher and successful entrepreneur, Vic has cultivated a passion of connecting academic findings to practical applications that translate to meaningful outcomes. In 1998, Vic created Health Media pioneering Web-based “digital health coaching.” The company set a new benchmark for scalable, effective lifestyle and condition management program delivery in the employer and health plan wellness markets. Health Media was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2008.
Vic is also a professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health and Director for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship. His research has led to over 100 studies of digital health interventions, with over $45 million in NIH grant funded research.
Since January 2014, Vic has given keynote presentations about the role of purpose in life, energy, and willpower to over 1,500 employers, providing him the opportunity to not only respond to the growing interests of the market, but to also continue to help shape it. In late 2014, JOOL Health was launched as a major paradigm shift in how individuals engage in the pursuit of well-being while offering organizations a more insightful means to support positive behavior change.
